Keynsham Town Centre Regeneration Action Plan

Keynsham Town Centre Regeneration Action Plan

This Action Plan has been developed as a joint project between Bath & North East Somerset Council and Keynsham Town Council, as a way of identifying future projects for investment in the Town Centre. The draft is now being published for consultation and engagement, before being finalised this spring.

It has been developed following the completion of the Keynsham High Street Heritage Action Zone project in March 2024, using ideas generated through previous public consultations and engagement and current and previous technical work. The Regeneration Action Plan project identifies opportunities, develops a programme of projects, and includes baseline evidence to help secure funding to improve the town centre. It is not intended to be a static document, and as new opportunities or challenges arise it can be updated and re-visited.

Keynsham town centre is a designated town centre in the B&NES Local Plan. The Regeneration Action Plan is both guided by the existing Local Plan and will feed into the development of the new Local Plan.

Future housing and employment growth planned for the town and surrounding area means that there will be increasing reliance on the town centre for local facilities, services, employment, and entertainment for a growing population.

While Keynsham Town Centre faces challenges, recent investment has seen major improvements and change including the new civic centre complex, public realm investment and building refurbishment and development. However, there are further opportunities to continue to improve the quality and resilience of the Town Centre and make it an appealing place to visit.
